Matric paper checking process went smooth

The DG of the Department of Basic Education recently visited all the marking centres in South Africa. And he was happy with their performance. The DG said that the deadlines were strict. However, more than 50 thousand paper markers put their heart and soul into the job so that the students could get error-free matric results on 14 January 2025.

The DBE previously announced that they would announce the results on 13 January 2025 and release them to students on 14 January 2025.

Marking the papers for Matric Results 2024

Before the DBE shares the results, teachers work very hard to mark all the exam papers. This year, the head of the Education Department, Mr. Mathanzima Mweli, thanked the teachers for their hard work.

More than 50,000 teachers marked the exam papers. They worked in 183 marking centres across the country. It took them almost a month to finish. They even worked during power outages and hot weather!

Mr Mweli said their work was very careful. The teachers checked each paper many times to make sure the marks were correct. Over 10 million papers were marked!

The Education Department made sure the exam papers were safe. Only the right people could touch or see the papers. No papers were lost or taken out of the centres without permission.

When all the papers are marked, the department checks everything again. They make sure the results are fair for all students.
